Hey, if you don't like our fine city you can always saddle-up and hall you sorry ass  back to your own side of the "border" yank!

As for not being able to find a half decent dog, we have pleanty, most can be found power dressing in the down town core.

Beginning to wish I's stayed home.

There's plane leaving every day. Weed is a hole. Their coffee tastes like re-cycled dishwater (probably is) Nothing there.

Don't let the door hit you on the way out

Oh come on don't be mean to Red Neck... after all, I doubt any of you would appreciate all Weed has to offer anyways, would you not?!?:P  You know I wantto move to a small town in the middle of nowhere... figure my ADHD/OCD-type personality would fit in well there... I'd just be another 'eccentric'!...YEA!  Ok I've convinced myself.... *books next flight to Weed*... You'll have to tell me the hot spots now Red Neck - who needs this bunch of Cowboys??! =P

Hmm... I see... and your reason being?  Wow, you really painted a picture for me there for all Calgary has to offer:Phahah  Sooo... how many other places have you lived in that you now have the power/authority to definitively state with such conviction we are living in the best city on earth?  Have you lived in every city in the world(and for a long enough time to truely draw up a fact based conclusion)?!?  No I'm kidding.. Calgary is a pretty nice city I guess.. can't see living here for the rest of my life however... approaching the 7 year mark in Calgary for me - time to travel around a bit... So is there nowhere else you'd want to live??  Come on... you've gotta at least give Weed a try.. don't be so close minded...heheh...

"You know you waaaaannnnaaa!...."

Speaking of travelling though... I still want/need to go on a road trip sometime over the summer.. perhaps I'll stop by there...*wonders who'd be up for the trip*  Any takers?!?

Calgary is 'groovy' because is hardly ever rains (and in Vancouver it hardly ever stops)

I think you get more sunshine than California. I hate the rain. Every damn day

So if you could live anywhere in the world, would you honestly pick Calgary??  I mean come on, it's a nice city and all, yes.... but still not where I would pick as my absolute "if all and end all" of all places I'd wanna live, you know?(No I'm not saying Weed is better by the way...heheh)  How about Australia though... hmmm... *ponders next life changing move*...

Naw... I like beaches and lakes that are deep and full of clear drinkable water. I'd live in Cour d' Lane Idaho, on the lake... or else Lajolla Cal.

Nice.  On reflection I think I may enjoy life in Italy or Greece someday too(if not to move to and live in permanently, then at least to visit)  At the risk of becoming severely unpopular here and feeling the wrath of angry city dwellers however, I don't really think Calgary has a huge amount going for it.  It's just waaay too congested for me, the crime rate has been rising exponentially for years... and don't even get me started on Stampede and the mass crowds of people eagerly lining up early in the morning for their free pancake at the breakfasts:P

Your crime rate is a joke. Ten murders a year for a million people is very low. Compare that to 25 per million for Greater Vancouver, or Edmonton's rate of about 50 per million per year.

Unfortunately, crime is going up everywhere. As ong as we have left wing Liberal judges and a liberal dominated senate, this problem will only get worse

In Vancouver, recently, a kid beat someone to death with a baseball bat. They reduced the charge to manslaughter... and the punk will be out of jail in 2 years. OH, he is just a teenager. I am for the death penalty for murder, and rapists who repeat their crimes. I am for the death penalty for a 16 yr old who murders someone.

The idea being to protect society from them who would do it harm. As a deterrent... perhaps it will help

Blame any/everyone even slightly to the left of Mussolini or Francisco Franco for...well, everything, just like the bought-and-paid for corporate-owned media tells you to. Oh yeah, silly of me to forget: the media--Rush, Fox, Coulter, company-owned news, et al to the contrary--are a bunch of pinko commies too!

Come on already mate, that pathetic, dictated-to-you cliche is worn out even by AmeriKKKan standards, get some new material, eh!

"Liberal" judges in a Con(-fidence artist)servative dominated province that has been so for 70+ years? Where are these dreaded communists? I should like to meet them...ask them why I'm always the only one at the meetings with my/our handlers from Havana...

Yours: Lord of Midian

The communists are in our colleges, Universities, schools (we call them teachers) and most of the ones in Alberta moved to BC

Since you are so anti-right, and anti-US, perhaps you might consider moving to a country that shares your hatred.

Hatred and bitterness will shorten your life by a good 15 years, bubba

Read what I wrote, mate: "anti-USA Empire." I do not consider  living in a world dominated by a "culture" that makes up excuses for wars so they can pirate other countries' resources, glorifies violence at any and every level--to the point that someone gets murdered in USA every ~22 minutes--and where seeing a doctor if you get sick/injured is only a privilege that's open to you if you can afford it to be a good thing. Thanx, but I prefer Canada, not the 51st state of Alberta.

One that shares my hatred? That's a bloody loooong list to pick from...

If you love the USA so much, why don't you go move there? Absence of restraint only ensures true freedom for the biggest, most ruthless, and vicious. The rest of us are only left free to choose which of these screws us that day, so they can buy more of that kind of freedom, while the rest of us eventually end up with nothing.

I support true freedom for all,  which is why I stand against global Fascist domination...

I actually have a property in the US, and I play golf there for about 10 weeks a year. Most often early Dec to mid-Feb

As for the rest of your nonsense, I think you are just making a lot of noise. Go get a job. You will feel much better for it. If you end up with nothing, you will have noone to blame but yourself.

Once again, mate, read what I wrote, not what you want to see:

To whit: "go move there." As in: live, work, and interact in/with the society there fulltime, not just 3-odd months out of the year to avoid our weather like all the other rich jerks. So you own a no-doubt-screamingly-overpriced vacation property. I'm sure that's lovely for you. Take the opportunity to brag some more about your shallow, materialistic ego-gratification, then! Big whoop, Yup; no-one cares, and, as often with your kind, completely beside the point.

Believe it or not, I had actually wanted to try and keep this from degenerating into a complete flame-fest until I saw this...:

"Go get a job?" I've been a trucker for 5 years and a courier/messenger for 5, and all I've got to show for it is an incipient ulcer and permanent embitterment that comes from doing what is, arguably, your **BLEEP**ing **BLEEP** society's most important job--name me even one thing that doesn't get delivered by a truck, mate. Yeah, I thought so--while getting treated, used, and used up on all levels like absolute, second-class citizen dirt by a--hats like you. All the while knowing, that, no matter how hard I work/run--try ~1300 km/night, followed by lumping the whole trailer-load at arrival, then you can tell me you know what work is, "Bubba"--it will never change for the better, and that wages have been/will continue to be deliberately stagnated. If that's what you consider a "job," then I'll just bow out while I still can...besides, designing the Cosworth DFV (90-degree crank street version this time 'round) of the New Millenium sounds like so much more fun, and is likely more lucrative.

I've been looking at some of your other posts* and it seems to me that you don't like Canada all that much...why are you still here, then? If you own a US vacation property, then you can likely afford to move to wherever you want, when you want. Again, what are you still doing here and why? :?

*B/T/W, where do you get your talking-points? Straight from Rush/Ann/Bill et al? How original...

Stop your whining. Canada is just fine, except we breed left wingers like yourself.

You just like to moan and groan. As for my lifestyle, your comments (...shallow, materialistic ego-gratification) are totally stupid.

Re: working; I worked in construction and logging for most of a decade, and spent over 25 years working in the Resource sector, so I know what a day's work is. The difference is that I really liked what I was doing, and it sounds like you don't.

This isn't deteriorating into a name calling thingy, it STARTED as one when you rode in here in your Kenworth and started running down everything and everyone. You are BORING, like most Midianites

MIDIAN: You have an ulcer not because of other drivers, but because you have a most negative mental attitude, and for a guy in his 30's, you sound very bitter. .

So someone cuts you off and gives you the one finger salute: So what??? He has to live with himself, YOU just have to stay on the road til you arrive at wherever. Drivers are like that everywhere, not just in Calgary. Also, they are much worse in Edmonton. As a trucker you should know that already

Big problem with you left winger anti-this anti-that types is that you are never happy ... never laugh, and never smile. You enjoy being miserable

You drive for a company named MOTHERS TRANSPORT, you'd be a Mother Trucker. Go tell everyone what you are. Talk fast, bubba

Left-wingers like myself are what built this country, Bubba, and gave it one of the highest standards of living on the planet--without the ruinous levels of taxation that other countries with similar standards--IE Western Europe, and AustralAsia--have to have to maintain it. It was also left-wingers like myself who have kept it independent from the USA....at least 'till 1994.

Near-free healthcare--since 1947, and one of the best public education systems in the world, with one of the lower crime rates. Funny how it only started deteriorating when the con(-fidence artist)servatives got in in 1984, and has been going down the toilet ever since...

The world clearly needs more pinko's...along with a big, fat enema. I recommend that Calgary is where they stick the tube. If "conservatism" is now defined as rampant Yankee-worship, sending our kids to die for American oil--read: for NOTHING--in Afghanistan, dismantling our once-exemplary social welfare system because corporations say so, increasing the size of government and beaurocracy in the name of cronyism, corpratism, classism, and paternalism, and allowing developers to get away with quadrupling the rents of people on fixed incomes, then you can have it, Bubba...don't let me stop you.

Just one question...what's in it for you, and do you seriously still think they're going to ever keep their promises to you? Come on, get real.

Yours

The Lord of Midian

Point taken, but you do have an out: impeachment--if I understand your laws correctly--and they are very unambigous--Congress could/should have called for impeachment of these criminals a dozen times over since November 2000.

This is why, for the last 10 years, corporations have been buying and paying for your Congress-creatures regardless of Party affiliation, so  there would be no will to do so. That's supposed to have changed since the mid-term elections off 2006, you need to make use of this...soon.

I know many Americans...for the most part, I get on with them just fine. It's only when the US flags* start to come out--especially in Canada--that my blood starts to boil. Please leave the jingo-ism at home along with the politics, and respect Canadian sensibilities! Rest assured, the vast majority of us are more than happy to return the favour...

*I'm sorry if this offends, but there is no graceful way to put this: the US flag is the Swastika of the New Millenium. We've been here before: a brain-damaged fanatic/demagogue Hell-bent on world domination. Thing is Hitler didn't have enough nuclear--pardon: nook-you-ler--weapons to end all life on this planet a dozen times over. You people need to do something about this...and soon, OK. Because I assure you, there are others who will happily do it for you otherwise. Just in case you were wondering: corporate-owned Democrats are no better than Republicans--Hillary is definitely NOT your friend! May I suggest: Green Party? Long past time, I think...

It sounds like you have already decided to not like being here so I am not sure that there is much anyone can suggest. Nothing will be like home so if you are in the habit of comparing everything here with what was familiar to you in Weed, then I am afraid that nothing will compare. I moved away from Calgary many years ago and nothing seemed as good as in Calgary. I must admit that I had an attitude problem. In the end I had to learn to like where I was or move home.

I would suggest you get out of Calgary and move to Toronto.  Much more to offer.

So you don't like Calgary and you are left, that's a good thing.  Not everyone will like every place.  I have been to Toronto and it seems - ok, but I don't think I would move there.

So what is your problem with Calgary, you obviously have a story to tell.

Hmm Calgary is great.  If you are willing to try an adjust you will find your niche, otherwise, of coars its going to suck because you aren't going out there to try and find what you like.
