Shaw can be fast but I have also found them to be unreliable. Their video on demand system is constantly unavailable or crashes half way through a movie. Internet slows to a snails pace at certain times of the day and according to their sales department their VOIP system is unsuitable for business use! Another thing I find alarming is that most of the people I know who work for Shaw use Telus.
Rogers offers high speed wireless in calgary now and it's awesome. I've had it since June and I have had no problems with it at all - no billing mistakes, or outage problems. It's a little more expensive, but well worth it.
I'm not sure of the technical details, but whenever I download something it's there pretty much instantly. However, I don't download movies or anything - mostly just news clips. It is an "always on" service as well, and you have to buy the modem.
Hmm... have you ever thought maybe we are all sooo happy with Shaw due to brainwashing by those evil 'Shaw-bots'.. Have you not seen the new commercials people?!? They're out to take over the world.... Run!... Hide!... Take cover!... *heads towards trusty secret underground lab for brainwash reversal*.. "Na, na, na, na, na, na, na, Batman... I mean... Shaw-bots!" Its worse than I thought!
Hey, Telus had a 20 something female telmarketer phone me withis great sounding offer. It seems they are offering about 15 or 20 channels TV package. $20 a month. Trouble is; to get Fox News, I'd pay an extra six bucks a month.
She patiently read all the channels they are offering (6-7 French channels, shopping channels and all the junk I got when I had Cable) In other words, nothing of value whatsoever.
I asked her if she liked older men (I am on the long side of 55), and then told her sorry, but I was taken. She moved on to the next victim
