I think it's about time this topic rose it's head again. The Guardian Angels just (in the last few weeks) recieved a $10,000 donation from an anonymous person so that they can set up a chapter here in Calgary. Thank you to whomever that was. I think the Angels in this city would do a world of good, and I, for one, Welcome them with open arms.
I think that any extra "presence" on the street will help keep us all safer and maybe help reach citizens at the street level. This will also give people that maybe wouldn't be accepted by CPS as a recruit a chance to volunteer and help out the community in a positive way.
Lets face it, popular support of the Angels is growing across North America. Partly because people on both sides of the border are beginning to realize that our legal system is a sham, our police forces are under funded and our cops have far to many restrictions placed on them when handling the scum and lowlife they have to deal with on a daily basis.
The bottom line is this. If the Angles can make Calgary a safer place, I for one would welcome them. Better yet would be if we could purge the leftwing wets from within our court system. Start giving life for dealing in drugs or armed assult and watch our problems disappear.
Like I have said in the past if the cops are unable to tackle our growing crime problem why not give the Angels a shot? As for the panhandlers they should be all rounded up and shipped off to Quebec. If you ask me, anyone who feels sorry for a panhandler and gives them money in a job market such as we have in Calgary deserves to be mugged.
As for institutions such as the Mustard Seed, the Drop in Center and the Salvation Army, why do they have to occupy prime sites in the downtown core? I have just had my property tax go through the roof. Why? Because Diamond Dave and his yesmen on city council says people living in the core should have to pay a premium for such a convenience. OK - if this is the case, let's move the homeless shelters out to the curry ghettos of the NE
Yea you know there are distinctions between people who are genuinely 'down on their luck' and in need of a hot meal, and people who just intend on living that way for the rest of their lives. It's like people who wind up in jail and don't really care either way.. you know that's something that REALLY bothers me. These people have committed various crimes and now that their 'freedom' has been taken away from them, they recieve 3 meals a day along with having a place to sleep and medical care provided for them too. Hard working people trying their best to support themselves and perhaps a family don't have the luxury of these being taken care of for them.
I could not agree more. What kind of mixed up government penalizes hard working honest people with crippling taxes whilst at the same time spending billions on supporting those who chose to turn against society.
The Warriors was one cool film. Not sure what it had to do with vigilantism but one hell of a film all the same. As for the angels, do you not feel that it’s a sad thing that we need them in the first place? Perhaps if the courts gave a little more backup to the CPS there would be no need for vigilantes. As things stand, the Calgary cops are fighting an uphill battle with both hands tied behind their back.
