Calgary certainly has a lot going for it. They say it’s the big city with a small town atmosphere. As for Britain, I also hale from that part of the world, a place called the Isle of Man to be precise. If you were to ask me which I like best England or Canada, I doubt I could give you a definitive answer. They both have good and bad points. Canadian tax is savage, but with the new Conservative government in place that could well change.
It is unlikely that the Calgary housing market is going to level off in the foreseeable future. Having said that, I think we are over the worst of the rapid inflation in home prices we have seen over the past year. From now on in, I feel home prices in and around Calgary will continue to climb but at a more predictable level.
Before you make any final decisions to move here I would strongly suggest you talk to Diane or one of the other dedicated buyers agents who work with TALKCalgary. Remember that any job offer you recive here is going to have to reflect the higer cost of living in Calgary. Also, property taxes are climbing every year in Calgary at a level well above that of the national inflation rate.
I am not trying to put you off moving here, just pointing out some facts you should consider. Personaly, I feel Calgary is one of the best place to live in the world!
