This is all so true!  I just made a big purchase at Futureshop where the salesman used high pressure tactics to try to get me to buy an extended warranty and accessories(which I really didn't need) package.  When I told him no for the final time, he rang in my sale and got REALLY Pissy with me and said "Why do you Hate warranties? You can't just go down to the market and get a new part if something breaks"  Yeah, because I go to the market to buy computer parts.  If I didn't just go through all the trouble of researching and checking out prices etc, I would have walked out of there.  I mean, I just dropped $1500 bucks in your store and you're getting pissy with me? Come on!  I won't be shopping there again.

I definitely agree with the overtipping situation.......everyone thinks they deserve a tip for doing their job, and that's just not true.  If I'm paying $40 bucks for a decent haircut, why do I need to add an additional $5-$10 bucks for that?  The mailman?   Well paid by my tax dollars......the Gas Jockey?  Is already being paid for doing his job.  The cost of living is going up for everyone in this city, including me so why should I have to pay someone elses's way?  The only Tips I get at work are " Why didn't you do it this way?......and Don't pee in the wind"

I totally agree with this one. It’s about time people wake up and stop feeling they have to tip people for doing the job they are paid for. All this is doing is giving certain employers the ability to pay staff in shirt buttons knowing that gullible customers will make up the difference. In other parts of the world tipping is rare. Why? Because people get paid a decent wage in the first place!

the salesman said that I "was a fool". I told him that his warrantee provided little benefit since under it's terms I could be without my PC for up to 90 days while Future Shop tried to repair it. At this point he asked if I was aware that by not taking the warrantee I was costing Future Shop money?

What amazes me is you forgot to tell him what to do with himself, after he told you you were a fool. That's when it's time to trash the deal. Where do these bozos learn their sales tactics??

Nobody can force us to tip. I tip well for good service.

I stiffed a New York Restaurant on Central Park for rotten service. No problem. Told them why, too

have stopped shopping at Future Shop because of their mail in rebates scams. What is worse is all their prices show the price after rebate!

This is called misleading advertising, and is against the law. Try and tell that to the sleazy chrysler dealerships in the Greater Vancouver Area.

The gimmick is to advertise a bunch of cars at what looks like good prices; then bury this little ditty in very fine print at the bottom of the ad: 'All prices reflect a trade worth $5,000" What amazes me is that people still give them their business.

And they are permitted to do this. Makes me wanna puke.

Mail in rebates mean nothing to me. I refuse to shop at such places

Okay......so I had to buy another new computer and I thought I'd try the big box stores once again.......I must say, Best Buy is wayyyyyyy worse for  customer service than Future shop this time around.    In FS, at least my presence was acknowledged....BB - nothing.  Not even a glance my way.   The salesguys stood around having a little circle jerk probably over who had actually made it to first base and who will have lifelong virginity.   The second time I went to FS, I was mostly ignored until I had been hanging around for longer than usual, but the guy who eventually helped me was really good.   It's funny that when you're actually going to make a big purchase, no one will help you, but when you're just browsing salesguys are all over you.

They are almost always a hassel anyway so I never bother with them.  Futureshop has pretty much cornered the market here in Canada.  Best Buy is the same thing and I think owned by them, correct?
