Perhaps you could check out other topics that have already covered this  - such as.......

50 Top Employers

Best & Worst Companies to work for

Finding a place to rent

Car Insurance

Worth Moving to calgay for a few months

Or even better yet.......actually browse around on the TalkCalgary website - it has a huge wealth of info!! I mean, how many times do people need to post these things?  And if you think Calgary is less crowded than Toronto...Think again - it's getting really bad here - commute times are up, it's a landlord's market, and transit is crap.

Construction is BOOMING in this city right now.  There's always a need for the skilled trades.

As to  multiculturalism....Calgary has a reputation for being a redneck city - but we're really not.  There are people of all kinds here - all sorts of restaurants & cultural events going on.

hey bud,

still interested in moving to calgary? ask away. calgary has changed in the last 10 years. came here in 95. hated it at first, then it grew on me. great place to raise a family. all the money is here now. unfortunately with the booming economy we get the good and the bad. but less taxes. and like everywhere where it is booming, you get the good and the bad. ask away..let me know..you can email me and ask at

mlrvilla000@yahoo.ca.. will really tell you what you need to do. i have been helping people move here (hobby of mine) for the last couple of years. dont worry, i dont charge for it. just feel like helping people is all..

regards

they tell me when they want to move, what they need to do before they do. places to go to..places to rent. what to watch out for, what not to do when you first come out here. what to plan, how to plan....and best of all it's easy, just ask, no worries.

i even help people move in to apartments by setting them up . most of them are

single individuals and i have one family am trying to look for a basement suite. that is more challenging, but again, its all word of mouth.

Hi,

Actually I am a Calgarian, I just thought your post was unusual so I was curious.  I think it would be nice if you posted some of your suggestions, I'm sure a lot of people pop in to the forum from time to time to check out Calgary if they are planning to move here and your experience could be of value to them.

hello fellow calgarian,

not a bad idea. again, i have met so many people who have moved to calgary and have stated they should've done this, and so on ..each person, family has their own

plans, aspirations, ideas and so on. to just generalize what they should do is to say the least not practical. i would advise however that they get as much information

about calgary befere they move. jobs, places to stay, how much it would cost, storage charges, vehicles , u haul and so on...for some it is a no brainer. but you would be surprised by the term..i dont mind moving' but i hate to move'...term....

rent prices have gone up so fast. but....there are still lots of places to look ..if you know someone or you have done your due diligence. there are lots of people here who would like to help.

again, folks, let me know.....

regards
