Hello everyone, I am really hoping to get some suggestions as to what options I have. I paid a local photographer for services that were not honored. They were pictures of my newborn baby! We were supposed to receive edited photos (not done) and photo books and announcements (never received). I have contacted the BBB already and the case has been closed because the 2nd attempt to contact was returned as undeliverable. I am so frustrated about the situation and am wondering where I can turn to next. I do not have the extra money to contact a lawyer and any attempt to contact the photographer goes unanswered. Even if I don't get anything from her (We had requested a partial refund so we could pay someone to do all the work she didn't do) I am hoping I will feel better knowing I attempted to do something, I know she has done the same thing to many others.
I feel sorry for you. It makes me sick when people get taken like this. The BBB is a good start you could also file a claim against the photographer in the small claims court. The golden rule is don’t NEVER pay for ANY service up front. Personally I won’t even give a deposit unless it’s on credit card. BTW if you did pay by credit card then you have a claim against the credit card company.
That's a truly horrific story. Who is this photographer? Since they won't send you the photographs, have you at least tried asking them for the digital files? At least that way you'll have something to remember the moment by. If I said it once I've said it 1000 times people, walk away from any contractor who tries to ask for payment before the job is done!!!
